I’ve always been drawn to birds, especially because their silhouettes can seem like brushstrokes on a painting. This place, in the middle of Silicon Valley, is a sort of sanctuary for wildlife, birds, and people looking to escape urban life.
On this particular day, the setting, time and elements all combined to create the perfect composition and filter for these shots. No part of them has been edited or retouched.
There’s a stillness to them, but also tension in the balance and proximity of each bird, piling, and water.
